Limited Edition
|
Cuba, unlike other cigar-producing countries, applies rigid standards: all robustos of all brands, just as Churchills or double coronas, are of the same size. On the one hand, the order is a positive thing, but on the other, it is a bit dull. The Cubans are likely to realize this themselves, and so every year they produce limited edition, non-standard cigars, Edición Limitada, with a special black ribbon.
To help Havana-lovers to find their way around non-standard cigars and avoidcounterfeits, Cigar Clan is publishing a list of all Edición Limitada cigars, starting from 2000.
Attention: counterfeit!
Counterfeited Havana cigars in Russia are nothing new. Trading in counterfeits is profitable, especially when it comes to luxury, i.e. expensive, cigars. The picture illustrates a pyramid format Cohiba cigar in a glass tube, which was bought in a tobacco kiosk in Moscow. Judging by the ribbon, this cigar is from the 2007 limited series. A novice may be tricked by the package into buying such cigar. But it should not be done by any means. It is a fake. Firstly, Cuban cigars are never (!) packed in glass (the only Cuban cigar that is placed into a transparent plastic tube is Guantanamera made of cut tobacco). Secondly, if you look at the previous page, you will see that the Cohiba Pyrбmides Ediciуn Limitada was produced only in 2006. So before buying a limited edition Havana cigar, check it against our list.
